Natural Powder and Nano Brows by Larissa – Chatham-Kent Permanent Makeup Microblading

Powder Brow

Larissa’s Signature Powder Brow is created with a tattoo machine that gently deposits pigment into the skin, resulting in a soft, powdery finish.

Rather than creating individual hair strokes, this technique builds a sheer shadow beneath the brow hair to enhance shape, definition, and symmetry in a natural-looking way.

Once healed, the result is diffused and balanced, not blocky, not dense, and never overly filled in. Just soft, long-lasting brows that complement your features.

Your appointment includes a 4–8 week touch-up and a comprehensive aftercare kit, which includes healing balm, shower shields, and detailed instructions.

Because skin types and healing responses vary, some clients may require a third session to achieve their ideal result. If needed, this is booked separately for an additional fee.

Topical numbing agents are used throughout the procedure to ensure your comfort and minimize any discomfort. Most clients report minimal to no discomfort.

Initial Session – $495
4–8 Week Touch-Up – Complimentary
Additional Refinement Session (Skin-Based) – $125
Annual Powder Brow Retouch (12+ Months) – $225

Important Pre-Care

Plan Accordingly

Powder and Nano Brows take 4–6 weeks for complete healing, with changes to colour, texture, and softness along the way. Plan your appointment around all special events and vacations, as aftercare restrictions will apply (no sweating, swimming, saunas, or makeup on the brows for 10–14 days).

Appointment Day & Pre-Care Guidelines

Before reviewing the pre-care, please confirm your eligibility for Permanent Makeup here.

  • Arrive without skincare, makeup, or numbing products on your brow area or forehead.

  • Avoid caffeine (including decaf) and alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment.

  • Wash your hair before your appointment. Keep your brows dry in the shower for the first week.

  • Do not wear contact lenses; your eyes must remain closed throughout the procedure.

  • Avoid exercise on the day of your appointment to minimize bleeding.

  • Stop taking blood thinners (e.g., Advil, Aspirin, Omega-3/DHA, Vitamin E) 7 days before; Tylenol is acceptable.

  • Wear comfortable, preferably dark clothing (pigment can splatter); consider bringing slippers and headphones.

  • Stop using Vitamin C, Retin-A, Retinol, and other active skincare products 3 weeks before.

  • Finish any antibiotics at least 2 weeks before your appointment.

  • Avoid Botox or Dysport in the brow area for 2 weeks before and after your appointment; allow the Botox to settle before your appointment.

  • Do not apply numbing cream beforehand.

Sun Protection & Hydration

Avoid direct sun and tanning beds for at least 1 month before your appointment. If your skin is sunburned, tanned, or recovering from UV damage, I cannot tattoo safely. UVA and UVB rays can alter the colour of your brows, cause premature fading, and in some cases even turn brown pigment blue. If you spend a lot of time in the sun and do not wear SPF daily, cosmetic tattooing may not be the right option for you—or it may be best to reconsider until you’re able to protect your skin consistently.

Come with hydrated, healthy skin. Dry, tight, or dehydrated skin does not take pigment well. In the 5–7 days leading up to your appointment, focus on hydration. Use a fragrance-free moisturizer or hyaluronic acid serum daily. Choose products without active ingredients. Your skin should feel soft, calm, and balanced on the day of your appointment. Even oily skin needs moisture (hydrated skin heals best!)

Post-Care

Washing Instructions

Your first wash should be done within 1-2 hours of your appointment using a fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water. This step is crucial for removing lymph and preventing scabbing. Wash gently using only the sink. Full washing instructions are below.

  • Start washing your brows 1–2 hours after your appointment.

  • Use lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser, such as Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser or CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser.

  • Wash morning and night until flaking stops, which usually takes about 10–14 days.

  • Avoid cleansers with fragrances, essential oils, exfoliating acids, or ingredients intended for anti-aging or acne-fighting purposes. Micellar water is not enough to replace washing, as it does not effectively remove lymph and can lead to scabbing and poor pigment retention.

  • Gently massage the brows in small circles, then pat dry with a tissue or cotton round. Apply a small, rice-grain amount of the provided aftercare cream to each brow after every wash.

  • Avoid rubbing vigorously. Use only your fingertips to cleanse; avoid using a washcloth or makeup wipe.

  • Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

  • Colour may flake off and look softer or less visible, but will gradually reappear over the next few weeks. If flaking persists beyond 10-14 days, continue with the recommended aftercare until it stops. It is NEVER okay or necessary to remove flakes manually.

  • Do not pick, rub, or scratch your brows. Let any scabbing or dry skin exfoliate naturally. Picking or itching can cause scarring or colour loss.

Important Precautions

Your brows are a fresh tattoo. The results depend on how you care for them in the first 10–14 days. Follow the aftercare instructions exactly. Please do not judge your brows during the first three weeks, as they change daily. They are only complete after the touch-up.

  • Avoid exercise or sweating for 10 days. Even if you don’t feel like you’re sweating, your body still produces heat and sodium chloride during physical activity, which can affect your results. You might not notice it, but your skin responds at a cellular level.

  • Keep your brows and forehead dry while showering. The shower water is usually too hot and direct. Wash your face carefully and cleanse your brows only at the sink for 10-14 days.

  • Never use anti-aging or acne products (Retinol, retin-A, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, tretinoin, vitamin C, niacinamide) on the treated area. These products can cause fading to occur quickly due to their exfoliating or lightening properties.

  • Do not apply makeup or skincare to the tattooed area until it is fully healed (about 2 weeks). Keep makeup at least one inch away from your brows.

  • Avoid facials, chemical treatments, laser, and microdermabrasion for 4-6 weeks. Waiting this long allows your skin to heal and stabilize before intensive treatments.

  • Avoid excessive moisture or humidity (e.g., swimming, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, or hot, steamy showers/baths). Too much moisture can cause scabbing and increase the risk of pigment loss.

  • Use a clean pillowcase and avoid sleeping on your side or face for 10-14 days.

  • Keep your brows completely out of direct sunlight for 3 weeks after your appointment. Avoid sunbathing, using tanning beds, or exposing the area to UV radiation during the healing process. Wear a hat if you’re outside, but avoid using sunscreen until the skin is fully healed (approximately 10–14 days after flaking stops). After healing, apply SPF daily to protect your tattoo from fading or discolouration.

A step-by-step look at the cosmetic tattoo process, from your first appointment to final results.

The Treatment Process

1/ Design & Mapping

We’ll begin by drawing your brow shape as a guide before tattooing. I use mapping string and measuring tools to create a balanced, symmetrical outline. If needed, I’ll tweeze or trim any stray hairs to clean up the area. We’ll also choose a pigment that suits your skin tone and how soft or defined you’d like your brows to appear.

Tattooing only begins once you’ve reviewed and approved the shape. You’ll have complete confidence before we start.

2/ Tattooing

Once you’ve approved the design, I’ll begin tattooing using a soft, layered technique. I apply a lidocaine-based numbing agent throughout the procedure to keep you comfortable.

I take a less-is-more approach in the first session—starting light, soft, and natural. This method gives us room to build gradually, with the option to add more at the touch-up.

You’ll leave with beautifully shaped brows that will soften as they heal. This session creates the foundation and is just the first step in the overall process.

3/ Healing & Touch-Up

After your first session, you’ll follow 10-14 days of strict aftercare to support healing and pigment retention. You’ll leave with an aftercare kit and clear instructions to guide you.

At 4–6 weeks, you’ll return for your complimentary touch-up. This second session is essential, as it allows me to assess how your skin healed, reinforce any faded areas, and refine the shape and colour.

Your final results will be visible once this second session has fully healed.

FAQ

  • Powder Brow is a tattoo technique using a machine to softly shade the brow area, creating a powdery, gradient effect. It is ideal for those seeking a soft, filled-in look without individual hair strokes. In contrast, Nano Brows use a machine to create ultra-fine, hair-like lines. Both methods are suitable for enhancing the brow’s shape, but deliver distinct finishes—powder for soft shading and Nano for hair strokes.

  • Yes. Powder Brows suit all skin types, including oily, sensitive, or mature skin. Most people heal well and see long-lasting results.

  • Nano Brows are not suitable for every skin type. If you have oily, textured, or reactive skin, Nano strokes are more likely to blur, fade unevenly, or not last well over time. In these cases, I do not perform Nano Brows because the results won’t meet my standards—or yours.

Due to this, an assessment via email is required before booking the Nano Brow service. I’ll need clear photos of your bare brows in good lighting so I can evaluate your skin and decide whether Nano, Powder, or a combination of both is best for you.

If you’re not suitable for Nano, don’t worry—Powder Brows suit all skin types and provide soft, natural results that heal well and keep their shape over time.

  • Yes, Powder and Nano Brows are types of cosmetic tattooing. I use a tattoo machine to deposit pigment beneath the skin, creating the appearance of fuller, more defined brows. This method doesn’t cut the skin like microblading, nor does it remove or damage your natural brow hair. The tattoo sits underneath the hair, enhancing your natural shape.

  • Most clients enjoy their results for 1 to 3 years. Retention depends on your skin type, lifestyle, and how well you care for your brows. Over time, the pigment will gradually fade, and you can return for a retouch when you’re ready.

  • Topical anesthesia is applied during the procedure to ensure comfort. Most clients report little or no pain. Cosmetic tattooing involves little to no bleeding (as long as the client properly adheres to pre-care instructions).

  • Both Powder and Nano Brows can appear very natural when done properly. I concentrate on crafting soft, balanced brows that enhance your features without harsh, trendy, or overly filled-in looks.

  • Fading is a regular part of the process. However, the pigment I use will fade true to tone, not turn blue, grey, or orange. I also work in soft layers and tailor the colour to your skin tone to ensure long-term results look natural. Harsh, outdated tattooing techniques (like early microblading) often caused colour shifts.

  • Sweat consists of sodium chloride (salt). Salt is hygroscopic, meaning it draws moisture from the skin. When you sweat during healing, this salt disrupts the wound environment and pulls moisture and pigment away.

Additionally, sweating raises body temperature and circulation, which opens the skin and makes it easier for pigment to escape. This can result in blurring, patchy spots, or cool-toned distortions.

Even light sweating is enough to affect results. That’s why exercise, heat, and sun exposure are strictly off-limits for the first 10 days.

“But Larissa, I don’t sweat when I work out!”

Even if you don’t feel like you’re sweating, your body still produces heat and sodium chloride during physical activity, which is enough to compromise your results. You may not see it, but your skin responds at a cellular level.

  • Microblading involves using a handheld blade to create tiny, hair-like cuts in the skin that are filled with pigment. While it can look natural at first, the strokes often blur or fade unevenly over time, especially on oily, sensitive, or mature skin. Microblading can also cause more trauma to the skin and doesn’t always age gracefully.

Powder Brows, on the other hand, are done with a machine that gently implants pigment using a layering technique. Instead of cutting the skin, it creates a soft, shaded effect. The result is far more versatile — we can adjust it to be soft and natural or more defined, depending on your preference. Powder Brows also tend to heal better, last longer, and are suitable for almost all skin types.

That’s why I choose Powder Brows for my clients: they’re less invasive, more customizable, and give beautifully healed results that hold their shape and colour for years.
